Haunting Adeline Book by H. D. Carlton Book 2

Image
Review  Read the trigger warnings before you read. Don't pick up this book with the intention of anything kind or heroic happening. If you do, you have no one to blame but yourself if you dislike it.  This book is not a romance book. It is a dark horror that delves into the bowels of humanity and will remake your own moral compass. THIS BOOK IS REALITY.  TWS: R@P#, Explicit Violence and Details, Murder, Blood, S*x Trafficking, PTSD, Psychological torment, Trauma, Dubious consent, CNC Hunting is as enthralling and real as Haunting was. It is completely different but just as enthralling. It is dark, it is unhinged, it is the worst of humanity, and it is unapologetic. There is also strength and resilience. This book hurt and you bled when Addie and Zade bled. You cried for them and you felt for them. I have my own traumas and this was as close to reality as I have ever read. This book broke open the heartbreaking reality of what happens to women and children around the...

Haunting Adeline Book by H. D. Carlton Book 1

Review The writing in this book is beautiful and so good. H.D. Carlton is talented and it shows in this book. I enjoyed the different storylines taking place and how they all connected to one another. I thought it was interesting to see Adeline live a similar life to her great grandmother. I think getting to read her great grandmother's thoughts on her own personal stalked helped Adeline in her own way. This book is just so so so good! I cannot recommend it enough. I do STRONGLY encourage everyone consider the triggers before reading. Hunting Adeline is the second part of the duet. This one is more extreme, darker, and triggering/traumatic. Unfortunately in the world, sex trafficking does actually happen and it’s very disturbing of what goes on when someone is in that situation. I found this to be an interesting read, but in a good way. What, like most about this book, was the sub stories within the main story. I like how this was more than just a book about a stalker and his muse...

Reviewing Book Twisted: (Never After Series) by Emily McIntyre

Image
Review "Twisted" by Emily McIntire is a modern-day classic inspired by the Aladdin story, weaving in a fractured fairy tale that keeps readers engaged from start to finish. The story follows Yasmin Karam, a young woman who has led a privileged life under her father's care until his illness changes everything. Yasmin's father has a dying wish for her to marry a man of his choosing, but her heart belongs to another. This sets the stage for a captivating deal with her father's protege, Julian Faraci, who has his own ambitious plans. The portrayal of Yasmin's relationship with her ailing father strikes a poignant chord, resonating with those who have experienced similar situations. It's a testament to the author's ability to create relatable characters and emotions, allowing readers to see themselves within the pages of the story. I read this book in sprints, creating substantial gaps between sessions. This isn't a reflection of disinterest but rather...

Reviewing Book Wretched: (Never After Series) by Emily McIntyre

Image
Reviewing This book is part of the Never After series, but is still a standalone and can be read without reading the prior books. I do however, highly suggest checking the trigger warnings before reading just in case. Honestly just wow! The amount of love I have for Eveline is out of this world. Nick is undercover. She’s the unknown target. They are both twisted and broken. Can these unlikely duo heal and mend each others wounds and find love? Can they forgive lie after lie? “Oh Pretty Girl… I’ll be whatever you want me to be.” It is dual POVs of the main characters as well and has some great tropes like, enemies to lovers and a forbidden romance. Firstly, I was so excited that we’re were getting the story of a female villain, she was everything I could ask for and more! She is bada$$, smart, strong, a little funny and just perfection. The amount of layers she has to peel back was so enjoyable. Her and Nicholas together were everything. Intense physical attraction, but emotionally and ...

Reviewing Book Scarred (Never After Series) by Emily McIntyre

Reviewing Scarred (Never After Series) by Emily McIntyre         Scarred is a forbidden dark royal romance book. While, it is not a retelling there are certain references that are loosely inspired from The Lion King. This is a twisted retelling of The Lion King, with the Scarred Prince Tristan as the antihero of this tale. As the second born, he was never destined to wear the crown, but his tormented childhood at the hands of his older brother, the new king, eventually thrust him into the role of leader of a rebellion against his own flesh and blood. Enter Lady Sara Beatreaux,  Sara has a goal to be the Queen and that means marrying the man she hates just so she can put an end to his evil and tyrannical bloodline after they murdered her father. Tristan wants revenge on the brother who tortured and broke him when they were children and to claim what is rightfully his…including Sara, his brother’s betrothed. .She never anticipated the allure of the Scarred Pr...

Birdiana Reviewing Book The Hooked (Never After Series) by Emily McIntyre

Reviewing Books The Hooked (Never After Series) by Emily McIntyre  If you're into dark romance with unexpected twists, this book series is for you. I discovered it through TikTok, where it had many positive reviews, so I decided to give it a try. Once I finished the first book, I found myself really enjoying Emily McIntire's writing style. It’s incredibly easy to get “hooked,” and before I knew it, I had finished the book within three days; I simply couldn’t put it down. The book features short, quick chapters, which is a bonus for readers who prefer a fast-paced read. I personally don't like  quick chapters I like to get to know my characters but I didn't realize they were short until I fished it fast. However, the character development was minimal, making the characters feel flat and one-dimensional, similar to watching a movie rather than reading deeply which does. The experience was similar like watching a movie rather than diving deeply into the characters person...
